Ski jumping team victory for Austria
Austria took the victory in team competition with the team Philipp Aschenwald, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Michael Hayböck and Stefan Kraft. This was Austria’s first victory in the team competition since Oslo 2017.
- We are a young team and being on the top of the podium is an amazing feeling. This is the best motivation for the home World Ski Championships in Seefeld, says Gregor Schlierenzauer.
Germany was second 11 points behind Austria. The competition for the victory was a close one. The difference between the top two teams was only half a point before the last round.
- This was an interesting competition. We did good jumps. We have worked really hard because it hasn’t been working all the time during the last weeks, says Karl Geiger.
The fight for the third place was also tight. In the end it was team Japan who was able to reach the podium less than four points ahead of team Poland.
- I didn’t believe we could reach for the podium so I’m really happy for our third place, says Junshiro Kobayashi.
