Star-studded Friday sets the tone for Lahti Ski Games

Women ski jumpers started the day in Salpausselkä in good weather conditions.
Finland’s Julia Kykkänen and Jenny Rautionaho both made it to the second round. Nika Kriznar from Slovenia celebrated the victory, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger was second and Eva Pinkelnig jumped to the third place. Jenny Rautionaho finished in an amazing fifth place.

The Women’s Team Sprint (classic) was a show of Sweden I from the very beginning. Finland’s team I (Pärmäkoski & Matintalo) had a strong day and Matintalo managed to keep Germany I and Norway I behind her. Finland finished second and Germany third. Finland II ended up sixth.

Men’s Team Sprint was a battle between five teams until the fourth exchange. Then Norwegian Kläbo made his move and took Norway I (Golberg & Kläbo) to a clear victory over Norway II and Finland I. Lauri Vuorinen took Finland to the podium by the smallest possible time difference of 0,01 seconds over the French team. Finland II ended up seventh.

Men’s ski jump competition took place in the traditional Lahti Large Hill (HS130). Finnish ski jumpers Niko Kytösaho and Antti Aalto made it to the second round. Slovak Lovro Kos won the competition before German Andreas Wellinger. Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan took the third podium place.

Lahti Ski Games will continue tomorrow with Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping.
