DOES LAHTI SKI GAMES HAVE A MASCOT?

Lahti Ski Games has an official mascot Hopsu moose. Also Snow Move ambassador Tuisku and FIS mascots Slopy and Pinty can be seen in the games.

WHAT AGED CHILDREN GET TO ACCESS THE GAMES FOR FREE?

Children under the age of 7 get to enter the games for free when they are accompanied by an adult. They get to access the same stand where the adult has their ticket to (either stand A or B).

CAN I GO TO TRACKSIDE STANDS IN THE FOREST FOR FREE?

The tracks are inside a fenced area and they can’t be accessed without a ticket. You can only enter the area from the main entrance (Salpausselänkatu) wherefrom you can get to trackside stands fast.

CAN I GO OUTSIDE OF THE GAMES AREA AND COME BACK?

Yes, you can. Remember to go through the official ticket control, if you are planning to return to the area on the same day. Don’t loose your ticket because it will be scanned again.

CAN I SKI IN THE TRACKSIDE STAND?

Skiing and skis is not allowed in trackside stands or in the games area. All the skis need to be left outside of the area.

WHEN THE FIREWORKS SHOW TAKES PLACE?

The fireworks show starts after the ski jumping team competition on Saturday around 19:15. Please notice that the start of the fireworks show is dependent of the time when the ski jumping competition ends.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE LOST AND FOUND ITEMS?

All the lost and found items will be delivered to info points in Fan Zone and Lahti Hall. You can ask about your lost items from those info points on the same day. After the games, lost and found items will delivered to Etelä-Suomen Löytötavaratoimisto which operates with lost and found items. You can call +358 600 55 00 93 and ask about your lost item.

ARRIVAL

HOW SHOULD I ARRIVE AT LAHTI?

It’s easy to take public transportation, like a bus or a train, to Lahti. For example Z-train from Helsinki takes you to Lahti Railway Station in an hour. From there you can easily walk to the Sports Center where the games are held! Read more.

WHERE TO FIND ACCOMMODATION?

Visit Lahti website has all the accommodation possibilities listed in one place: hotels, bed and breakfast, hostels, cottages and camping sites.

DO YOU SELL PARKING TICKETS? WHERE ARE THE SPECTATOR PARKING AREAS?

We don’t sell parking tickets. If you arrive at the area by car we recommend parking it on the parking spaces on the sides of the roads right near the games area as well as in the city center. We also suggest using parking halls like Toriparkki (open 24/7), where you enter from address: Rauhankatu 13.

GAMES AREA

CAN I GET A MAP OF THE AREA BEFORE THE GAMES?

You can find the map on maps section of our website. In the games you can get a map from an info point. Also, the area guides help you, show you the map and direct you to the right place.

IS THERE AN INFO POINT IN THE AREA?

The games area has two information points. One is located in Fan Zone in front of the grandstand building and the other is in Lahti Hall.

CAN I GO SOMEWHERE TO WARM UP?

You can go inside Lahti Hall, which is a warm hall.

WHICH PAYMENT METHODS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE GAMES AREA?

Common payment cards and cash in Euros. If you want to buy with cash, make sure to draw it out beforehand.

IS THERE AN ATM IN THE GAMES AREA?

The area has no ATMs so we recommend drawing out some cash beforehand. You can find the nearest ATM in Aleksanterinkatu 10.

WHERE CAN I PURCHACE LAHTI SKI GAMES MERCHANDISE?

There is an official merchandise tent in Fan Zone, where you can buy fan merchandise. The official merchandise inclues for example a soft toy of the mascot Hopsu, seating pad and games jersey from the World Championships of 1978. IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUY FOOD AND DRINKS IN THE GAMES?

The games area offers a wide range of delicious food and drink options. These are located in Fan Zone, Lahti Hall, Karpalo and Teivaa.

CAN I GET A SALES/ PROMOTION POINT TO THE AREA?

Sales points are sold out. You can ask about next year’s sales and promotion points next autumn.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHARGE CELL PHONES IN THE AREA?

You can charge your phone in Lahti Hall. Take your own charger with you.

IS THERE A CHILDCARE ROOM IN THE AREA?

There is a childcare room in Lahti Hall.

STANDS

WHERE IS MY PLACE IN COUNTRY CROSS AND SKI JUMPING STANDS?

Each category has a marked stand in both country cross stadium and next to the ski jumping hill. With B-ticket you get to follow the ski jumping competition in B-stand and country cross in either B-stand or in trackside stands of the forest. With A-ticket you can access those mentioned before, and in addition, A-stands in both ski jumping and country cross stadium.

CAN I GO AND WATCH COUNTRY CROSS SKIING IN TRACKSIDE STANDS?

Yes, you can. You can decide yourself wether you want to follow country cross skiing competition from stands in the stadium or trackside stands.

DO THE STANDS HAVE STANDING OR SITTING SEATS?

Country cross skiing stadium has some seats where you can sit. Elsewhere places are for standing.

CAN I ACCESS THE STANDS WITH A STROLLER?

Built stands are not accessible with strollers and those can’t be taken there since passageways need to be kept clear. Easiest stand to go to with a stroller is B-stand at the curve of the stadium. Lahti Hall has a spot where you can leave your stroller on your own responsibility.

IS IT ALLOWED TO?

IS IT ALLOWED TO SMOKE CIGARETTE?

The games area has smoking areas and they are in Fan Zone. Smoking is only allowed in these marked areas: smoking is forbitten in for example, built stands. Please take other spectators into consideration.

AM I ALLOWED TO RECORD A PERFORMING ARTIST?

Recording picture and sound is forbitten without a permission.

AM I ALLOWED TO PHOTOGRAPH AND FILM MOTION PICTURE?

It’s allowed for personal use, but forbitten with so called professional equipment. Please remember to respect other visitors’ privacy. Unauthorized sound and video recording are forbitten due to copyright law, which means that if you are planning to publish your photos publicly, you’ll need a permission.

SAFETY

ARE SECURITY CHECKS CARRIED OUT IN THE AREA?

To enter the games area, you need to go through security check. Security officers carry out security checks to prevent importation of forbitten items into the area and though this, ensure the safety of everyone in the area and make the event more pleasant.

HOW SAFETY HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF?

All parts of the event’s arrangements and plans have been built working closely with police and other officers.

IS THERE FIRST AID POINT IN THE AREA?

First aid point is located in front of the grandstand building.

HOW TO TAKE ACTION IF A CHILD GOES MISSING? HOW TO PREVENT?

Atria grill in Fan Zone acts as a meeting place. If you have an older child, it’s good to agree to meet there. We recommend putting a note with a name and phone number, where to call. If needed, the visitor will be guided to security officer, who will help with the situation.

CAN I BRING THIS TO THE AREA?

CAN I BRING ALCOHOL, GUNS, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE, FIREWORKS, TORCHES, EDGED WEAPONS, MULTIPURPOSE TOOLS, DRONES, LASER POINTERS, AEROSOLS?

All of these are strictly forbitten things and items to bring to the games area.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS TO THE GAMES AREA?

Yes, you can. Please note that it’s not allowed to eat your own food in the restaurants of the area. You can find spots to eat your own food in Fan Zone and Lahti Hall. Please bring your drink in something other than glass bottle. Bringing alcohol to the area is forbitten.

CAN I BRING A DISPOSABLE GRILL?

It’s not allowed. All fire making tools and materials are forbitten for safety reasons.

CAN BRING A BACKBAG?

Yes, you can. Be prepared for a security check at the entrance and leave forbitten items home.

CAN I BRING A CAMP CHAIR?

Yes, portable and folding camp chairs are allowed. For example, garden chairs and other furniture are forbitten. Inflatable chairs and sofas are allowed if they don’t cause disturbance or safety risk (for example if it’s crowded).

CAN I BRING A SLEDGE OR A SNOW RACER?

You can bring these for snow sliding in kids’ area. Only those without metallic and sharp sledge runners. Sledge and snow runners aren’t allowed in the built stands with seats.

CAN I BRING AN UMBRELLA IF IT’S RAINING?

We recommend using disposable raincoats if it’s raining, but we won’t be taking umbrellas away if it’s a rainy day.

CAN I BRING PETS TO THE AREA, FOR EXAMPLE DOGS?

No, dogs must be left home or in the care because the area is crowded and gets too loud for the animals. EXCEPTION: guide dogs are welcome!

CAN I BRING COMMERCIAL BANNERS OR OTHER BANNERS?

Commercial advertisements are not allowed due to the commercial rights of Lahti Ski Games. Sheets and signs are allowed for cheering purposes. Please note that these can’t involve racist, politic, or otherwise discriminating texts or images. Disturbing use of signs will be intervened.

CAN I BRING MY OWN SKIS/ SKIING EQUIPMENT TO THE AREA?

Own skis are not allowed in the area due to safety reasons. Skis need to be left outside the entrance, on your own responsibility.

HOW BIG FLAG CAN I BRING?

The size is not specified. If it’s a safety risk or disturbing others, the flag must be removed.

ACCESSIBILITY

HOW ACCESSABILITY HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT IN THE GAMES?

Accessibility has been taken into account when planning the areas. There are accessible toilets and accessible stands.

ARE ALL THE AREAS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

You can move around in all the central spectator areas in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, trackside stands in the forest aren’t wheelchair accessible.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC SEATS FOR DISABLED?

Both ski jumping stadium and country cross stadium offer stands for people in wheelchairs. They are located in the corner of ski jumping stands (stand F) and in grandstand building in A2 and A3 while country cross skiing takes place. Both wheelchairs stands have space for 12 wheelchairs.

DOES THE ASSISTANT OF DISABLED PERSON NEED A TICKET?

Assistant of disabled person doesn’t need their own ticket. Assistant enters with and stays with the person they assist in the games area.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

If you have an official disabled parking permission, you can park at Isku Arena sand field in Svinhufvudinkatu. Parking requires a ticket to Lahti Ski Games and an official disabled parking permission.
