Karl Geiger won the 1000th Ski Jumping World Cup Competition
The 1000th individual Ski Jumping World Cup competition was a tight fight between many athletes. The city of Lahti has hosted the World Cup impressive 58 times – more than any other host city.
The first round was tight and left the audience waiting for show stoppers. Karl Geiger was in the lead with 1,1 point before Ryoyu Kobayashi. Austria’s Stefan Kraft was third after the first round.
The second round served the audience many long jumps and excitement all the way to the last jumper. Michael Hayböck managed to improve his jump on the second round and ended up on 3rd place. Hayböck’s team mate Kraft was left 2nd. Geiger showed an impressive 130 meter jump and snatched his 4th victory this season tightening up the fight for the overall World Cup.
– My jumps were good today. It’s incredible that I won 1000th competition, it’s special, Geiger smiled.
