Norway wins men’s relay – Switzerland takes silver unexpectedly
Men’s 4 x 7,5km relay finished Lahti Ski Games for cross country skiers.
Team Switzerland (Beda Klee, Dario Cologna, Jason Rueesch and Roman Furger) offered a surprise to cross country ski fans, as they came second in the relay.
— Yesterday was a really hard day for all of us, so we are really satisfied and surprised with today’s result. Everybody in the team performed really well. Especially Roman (Furger) was strong today, it’s amazing! Klee told the press.
Switzerland finished +1,2 seconds after the winner, team Norway. Team Russia I (Ilia Semikov, Alexander Bessmertnykh, Denis Spitsov and Andrey Melnichenko) came in third, finishing +1,7 seconds after Norway.
— There was a lot of snow in the track, so our pace was really snow. However it was fun to race and especially fun to win as a team here in Lahti, Norway’s anchor Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo commented. He came to stadium together with other teams and trusted his strong finish.
— It has been a good weekend, there has been two good races and conditions have been really good.
Other members in the team were Paal Golberg, Hans Christer Holund and Sjur Roethe.
