Women’s Relay 4x5km – Nordic Show
The women’s Relay 4x5km included strong performances from the Nordic skiers. Today the Relay was won by the Norwegian team.
After the start of the race, Therese Johaug led the Norwegian team to clear lead in the third leg. In addition to Johaug, the Norwegian team included Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg, Tirild Udnes Weng and Heidi Weng. The Finnish team also looked strong today and ended up with a wonderful second place. The bronze medal was fought today by Sweden and Russia, and finally won by our neighbor Sweden.
The Finnish team today included Johanna Matintalo, Kerttu Niskanen, Laura Mononen and Krista Pärmäkoski. After the first leg, Matintalo says that she is pleased with her performance:
-It was a good day today, and I am pleased that I managed to make a small difference to other skiers, she commented.
Pärmäkoski, who also skied the anchor section, describes the team’s good cooperation and says that the tactic of the day was to try to get Sweden off the heels during Laura’s third leg. She also praises her teammates for great skiing:
-The girls pull such a good spot that I was able to ski casually today.
Team Sweden included Charlotte Kalla, Frida Karlsson, Rebecca Oehrn and Maja Dahlqvist. Dahlqvist, who skied anchor leg managed to ski her team in bronze, and today the medal was won with just one hundredths of a second ahead the fourth-placed Russian team.
